OVERVIEW
We provide lightning protection services to prevent property damage, fire, and personal injury from both the physical effects of direct lightning strikes and the secondary effects of induced lightning.
We take appropriate lightning countermeasures by utilizing "lightning protection systems" that protect buildings themselves from direct lightning strikes and "SPDs (surge protective devices)" that protect equipment from induced lightning.
In addition to design and installation of lightning protection systems by engineers specializing in lightning protection, we also provide grounding consulting and control and monitoring of photovoltaic power generation systems.
SCOPE OF WORK
Direct Lightning Strike Countermeasures
When a structure is subjected to a direct lightning strike, a strong electric current flows through it, causing extensive damage. Since the installation of lightning rods alone is not sufficient preparation, more comprehensive lightning protection measures are required.
The lightning protection system, which captures lightning and safely conducts it underground, the external lightning protection system, which controls the current of direct lightning strikes, and the internal lightning protection system, which prevents spark discharges through equipotential bonding, are combined to reduce fire and damage to buildings.
Induced-lightning-protection
Even if a "lightning protection system" can prevent direct lightning strikes, it cannot prevent induced lightning or backdraft lightning. For perfect lightning protection, it is effective to install SPDs that can capture lightning surges such as abnormal voltage and overcurrents that flow inside the facility and safely discharge them into the ground.
The optimal SPD is selected and installed according to the area and the amount of lightning energy, and the lightning surges are discharged to prevent them from entering equipment.
Specifically, appropriate SPDs are selected for each target to be protected, such as DC systems, AC systems, and communication and control systems. SPDs are then installed in the vicinity of the lightning surge intrusion routes in each device to suppress overvoltages and protect equipment.
Grounding Consulting
In order to operate power generation facilities in a favorable environment, "grounding consulting" is essential to protect people and facilities from electric shock and electrical leakage accidents.
Our lightning protection experts provide comprehensive support from grounding design and selection of construction methods to on-site support for construction work so that our customers can operate their valuable buildings with peace of mind.
We reduce the grounding resistance value to ensure the electrical grounding resistance value stipulated in the technical standards for electric power facilities. We also measure the earth resistivity of soil on site and use it as a standard for grounding design. In addition to measuring ground resistance using the voltage drop method and measuring and investigating stray current, we also investigate transient ground resistance values that cannot be measured with a ground resistance meter by measuring surge impedance.
Control and Monitoring of Photovoltaic Power Generation System Grid
In order to ensure stable operation of a photovoltaic power generation system, it is important to control and monitor the system grid and to understand how the equipment is operating.
Various devices, including direct current relays, are installed in the power generation equipment to control and monitor the flow of electricity in a safe condition.
By controlling and monitoring the system, it is possible to detect abnormalities and troubles at an early stage. It is also possible to check the amount of electricity generated and the status of power conditioners from remote locations, and analyze power generation trends from the accumulated data.
- The "Revised FIT Law" that went into effect on April 1, 2009 mandates the establishment and implementation of a system necessary for proper maintenance, inspection, and upkeep of power generation equipment.
